On Thursday, leadoff hitter Jackson Holliday went 2-for-4 with a run scored to lead Baltimore to a 3-2 home victory versus Pittsburgh.

Twenty-seven year old southpaw Trevor Rogers (8-2 1.51 ERA) has been a major reason for Baltimore’s second half success. Through 95 plus innings, Rogers has allowed just three long balls and owns a minuscule 0.87 WHIP.

Blue Jays Preview

The Toronto Blue Jays have won 47 of their 72 home games and hold a 3.5 game lead over two teams for first place. On Thursday, George Springer and Nathan Lukes each scored twice to spark Toronto to a 6-0 home victory versus Houston. SP Kevin Gausman (10-10) went the distance and fanned nine batters to earn the win for the Blue Jays, who improved to 84-62 overall.

The Blue Jays will counter with thirty-six year old righty Chris Bassitt (11-8 3.97 ERA) in the series opener. Last time out, Bassitt (5 IP) gave up two unearned runs during a 3-1 road loss against New York.
