Three-time Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer (2-8) gave up six runs in five innings and took the loss for the Blue Jays, who fell to 73-75 overall. Toronto rookie OF Brett Bateman went 3-for-5 with a two-run shot in the final frame.
Toronto manager John Schneider will give the nod to twenty-six year old righty Spencer Arrighetti (7-9 5.12 ERA) on Saturday. Arrighetti was acquired in a trade deadline deal from Houston and has given up 15 runs (14 ER) in just 15 plus frames with the Blue Jays.
