Boston Red Sox Preview
The Red Sox had their chances in Game 2 but fell short. Trevor Story drove in all three runs with a two-run single in the third and a solo homer in the sixth. He finished with two hits, while Alex Bregman and Jarren Duran were productive at the plate. Boston collected six hits overall but struck out nine times and left five runners stranded.
Garrett Whitlock took the loss in relief after allowing the deciding run in the eighth. Boston used six pitchers in Game 2, which makes it important, starter, Connelly Early pitches into the sixth or seventh inning in Game 3. The Red Sox bullpen has already covered 10 innings in the first two games. To advance, Boston needs more production from the middle of the order beyond Story and more hits with runners in scoring position.
New York Yankees Preview
New York’s lineup responded with timely hitting in Game 2. Ben Rice hit a two-run homer in the first inning, and Aaron Judge and Austin Wells each added RBIs. The Yankees finished with 10 hits, drew four walks, and put pressure on Boston’s pitchers throughout the night.

On the mound, Carlos Rodón gave six innings before the bullpen closed it out. David Bednar struck out two in the ninth for the save, and New York’s relievers have yet to allow a run in this series.
