Twenty-three year old left-hander Payton Tolle (8-6 3.08 ERA) has been a major part of Boston’s second half turnaround. Through 120 innings of work, Tolle ranks 36th in the majors with 134 strikeouts and owns a sparkling 1.08 WHIP.

Marlins Preview

The Miami Marlins have won 41 of their first 67 home games and are 4.5 games back in the race for the final National League Wild Card spot. During Monday’s home loss, Miami batters went an alarming 2-for-18 with runners in scoring position and left 13 men on base. SS Otto Lopez went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored for the Marlins, who fell to 67-65 overall. SP Sandy Alcantara allowed one run across seven strong frames and did not factor in the decision.

Miami manager Clayton McCullough has not announced a starting pitcher for this contest. The Marlins rank ninth in the majors with a 3.90 ERA and a serviceable 1.25 WHIP. Miami starters have logged 40 quality starts on the year.
