In the series opener, Chicago SP Matthew Boyd gave up six runs (2 ER) and did not escape the opening frame during a 9-3 road loss against Milwaukee.

Thirty-two year old righty Shota Imanaga (9-8 3.73 ERA) will take the mound for the Cubs in this matchup. Chicago has dropped four of Imanaga’s previous five games pitched and he has surrendered nine long balls across his last 25 plus frames.

Brewers Preview

The Milwaukee Brewers ranked second in the majors with a 3.58 ERA and are looking to win just their fourth playoff series in franchise history. During Saturday’s home victory, leadoff hitter Jackson Chourio collected three hits and drove in three runs in the first two innings. SP Freddy Peralta (1-0) fanned nine batters across five plus frames to earn the win for the Brewers.

Milwaukee manager Pat Murphy will use twenty-seven year old southpaw Aaron Ashby (2.16 ERA) as an opener on Monday. Through 66 plus innings, Ashby has retired 76 batters by strikes and sports a solid 1.17 WHIP.
