The MLB Divisional Round will get underway on Saturday afternoon with a showdown between the Chicago Cubs and the Milwaukee Brewers from American Family Field. The fifth-seeded Cubs finished the regular season three games above .500 on the road and are looking to win their first World Series title since 2016. On Thursday, leadoff hitter Michael Busch homered and collected three of Chicago’s 13th hits during a 3-1 home victory versus San Diego.

Thirty-five year old righty Colin Rea (11-7 3.95 ERA) will take the mound for the Cubs in the series opener. In two starts versus Milwaukee this year, Rea (9.2 IP) allowed an alarming 18 baserunners and six runs.

Brewers Preview

The Milwaukee Brewers won 52 of 81 home games during the regular season and will be facing the Cubs in the postseason for the first time. The NL Central Division Champion Brewers led the league with 164 stolen bases, but ranked 22nd in the majors with 166 home runs. OF Christian Yelich led Milwaukee with 29 home runs and 103 RBIs. Eight players swiped at least 14 bags for the Brewers in 2025.

Milwaukee skipper Pat Murphy will give the nod to two-time All-Star Freddy Peralta (17-6 2.70 ERA) on Saturday. Through 176 plus innings, Peralta ranks ninth in the majors with 204 strikeouts and sports a solid 1.08 WHIP.
