Last night, leadoff hitter Michael Busch went 3-for-5 with a home run and scored twice to spark Chicago to a 4-1 road victory against Pittsburgh.

Thirty-four year old southpaw Matthew Boyd (13-8 3.05 ERA) has been a major reason for the Cubs success this season. Boyd, who was selected as a first-time All-Star, ranks 13th in the majors with a 1.07 WHIP.

Pirates Preview

The Pittsburgh Pirates have dropped ten of their previous 11 games and are trapped in the NL Central Division cellar. During Tuesday’s home loss, Pittsburgh batters managed just four hits and were retired by strikes 12 times. NL Cy Young Award front runner Paul Skenes (10-10) gave up three runs in three plus innings and took the loss for the Pirates (65-87), who fell to 42-35 at home.

Twenty-seven year old righty Johan Oviedo (2-0 2.81 ERA) will make his seventh start of the year for the Pirates. Last time out, Oviedo (5.2 IP) gave up a pair of runs and fanned five batters during a 3-2 road loss against Baltimore.
