Tigers Preview

The Detroit Tigers have split their previous ten games and are nine games off the pace in the AL Central Division race. During yesterday’s home victory, Kerry Carpenter put Detroit ahead to stay with a two-run double that scored Dillon Dingler and Riley Green. OF Matt Vierling added a two-run blast in the first inning for the Tigers (31-44), who improved to 19-16 at home.

Twenty-five year old righty Troy Melton (3-0 2.81 ERA) will make his fifth start of the year for the Tigers. Last time out, Melton (5 IP) scattered eight hits and gave up four runs during a 10-4 home victory versus Minnesota.
