The Detroit Tigers have dropped eight of their previous 11 games and are nine games clear of Kansas City for the top spot in the AL Central Division. During Friday’s home loss, Detroit OF Parker Meadows hit a two-run blast to even the score in the third inning. SP Jack Flaherty gave up four runs in four plus innings and did not factor in the decision for the Tigers (81-61), who fell to 45-28 at home.

Twenty-eight year old lefty Tarik Skubal (12-4 2.18 ERA) is the front runner to win his second consecutive AL Cy Young Award. Through 173 innings, Skubal has retired 216 batters by strikes and leads the majors with a remarkable 0.87 WHIP.
