Twenty-nine year old righty Davis Martin (9-3 3.31 ERA) is making a strong case to make his first All-Star Game appearance for the White Sox. In his last start, Martin (3.1 IP) surrendered three long balls and gave up nine runs during a 12-2 road loss against New York.

Tigers Preview

The Detroit Tigers have won the first two games of this series and are a disappointing eight games out of first place. During yesterday’s home victory, Detroit DH Dillon Dingler went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. SP Troy Melton (4-0) allowed one run across six solid frames to earn the win, Closer Kenley Jansen needed just ten pitches to notch his ninth save for the Tigers (32-44), who moved to 20-16 at home.

Detroit manager A.J. Hinch has not announced a starting pitcher for the series finale. The Tigers currently rank an impressive seventh in the majors with a 3.89 ERA and a respectable 1.28 WHIP. Detroit’s starters have logged 26 quality starts.
