Twenty-four year old righty Rhett Lowder (3-6 4.91 ERA) will take the mound for the Reds in this matchup. Lowder, who has struggled with his control (35 BB, 69.2 IP) this year, has allowed just one run across seven frames in his last three relief appearances.

Rockies Preview

The Colorado Rockies have dropped seven of their previous 11 games and own the worst record in the National League. During Friday’s home loss, Colorado 2B Willi Castro went 2-for-4 with his eighth long ball of the year. SP Gabriel Hughes (0-1) struck out six batters in five plus innings and was the hard-luck loser for the Rockies (39-60), who fell to 22-26 at home.

Colorado manager Warren Schaeffer has not announced a starting pitcher for this game. The Rockies rank last in the majors with a 5.44 ERA and a subpar 1.52 WHIP. Colorado starters have logged a league low 16 quality starts this season.
