Cincinnati enters at 31-30 after a 5-2 loss to Kansas City, while St. Louis sits at 32-28 following a 5-3 victory over Texas. The clubs are separated by only a small margin in the standings, making this an important divisional matchup.

The Reds will send Brady Singer to the mound. Singer owns a 2-5 record with a 6.18 ERA through 51 innings this season. While he has shown the ability to generate strikeouts, he has struggled to consistently keep runners off base and limit scoring opportunities. Cincinnati will need a better outing from its starter to compete on the road.

St. Louis counters with Kyle Leahy, who enters with a 5-3 record and a 4.26 ERA over 55 innings. Leahy has been more dependable this season and has helped the Cardinals remain competitive despite recent inconsistency. His ability to work deep into games could be an advantage for St. Louis.

Both sides have been up and down recently, but the Cardinals enter with slightly better form and the stronger starting pitching matchup. Playing at home should also provide a boost as they look to start the series with a win.
