On Sunday, Cleveland SP Tanner Bibee gave up four runs across six plus frames during a 4-2 home loss versus Seattle.

Rookie left-hander Parker Messick (1-0 0.66 ERA) will make his third career major league start for the Guardians. Last time out, Messick fired seven shutout frames and fanned six batters during a 3-0 home victory versus Cleveland.

The Boston Red Sox have won seven of their last ten games and trail New York by a half-game for first place in the AL Wild Card standings. On Sunday, OF Jarren Duran’s three-run inside the park home run sparked Boston to a 5-2 home victory versus Pittsburgh. SP Lucas Giolito (10-2) allowed one run in six innings to earn the win for the Red Sox (76-62), who improved to 42-27 at home.

Boston manager Alex Cora will give the nod to talented right-hander Brayan Bello (10-6 2.99 ERA) in the series opener. In his last start, Bello (6.2 IP) allowed two runs (1 ER) and struck out six batters during a 3-2 road victory against Baltimore.
