Twenty-five year old righty Parker Messick (5-1 2.35 ERA) is off to a fabulous start to the season for the Guardians. Through 53 plus innings, Messick has retired 58 batters by strikes and ranks tenth in the majors with a 0.99 WHIP.

Tigers Preview

The Detroit Tigers have dropped nine of their previous 11 games and are stuck in the division basement with Kansas City. During Monday’s home loss, Detroit’s offense came on a Riley Greene RBI double and a Matt Vierling solo shot. SP Framber Valdez (2-3) gave up four runs in five innings and took the loss for the Tigers (20-28), who fell to 13-9 at home.

Detroit skipper A.J. Hinch will counter with twenty-five year old righty Keider Montero (2-3 3.65 ERA) on Tuesday. Last time out, Montero (4.2 IP) gave up four hits and four runs during a 9-4 road loss against the New York Mets.
