Twenty-five year old southpaw Joey Cantillo (3.36 ERA) will head to the hill for the Guardians in this contest. Last time out, Cantillo fired eight shutout frames and fanned five batters during a 2-0 home victory versus Kansas City.

Tigers Preview

The Detroit Tigers have won 46 of their 75 home games and hold a 6.5 game lead over Cleveland for first place in the AL Central Division. On Sunday, SP Keider Montero (5-3) tossed five scoreless innings and retired five batters by strikes to lead Detroit to a 2-0 road victory against Miami. 1B Spencer Torkelson reached base three times and scored a run for the Tigers (85-65).

Detroit skipper A.J. Hinch will give the nod to former number one overall draft pick Casey Mize (14-5 3.83 ERA) in the series opener. In his last start, Mize (6 IP) allowed two runs and struck out eight batters during a 12-2 road triumph against New York.
