Twenty-six year old righty Gavin Williams (6-3 3.67 ERA) will take the mound for the Guardians in this matchup. Through 61 plus innings, Williams ranks ninth in the majors with 73 strikeouts and owns a solid 1.19 WHIP.

Phillies Preview

The Philadelphia Phillies have won seven of their last ten games and trail NL East Division leading Atlanta by nine games. On Wednesday, Philadelphia 3B Edmundo Sosa and 1B Alec Bohm each homered during a 9-4 home loss versus Cincinnati. SP Aaron Nola (2-4) gave up four runs in five innings and took the loss for the Phillies (25-25), who fell to 13-14 at home.

The Phillies will counter with talented left-hander Cristopher Sanchez (5-2 1.82 ERA) on Friday. Philadelphia has won Sanchez’s previous four starts and he has allowed just two runs over his last 30 plus innings. Sanchez ranks fourth in the majors in ERA and third in strikeouts with 80.
