Twenty-five year old left-hander Parker Messick (5-1 2.45 ERA) is quietly having an All-Star worthy season for the Guardians. In his last start, Messick (5.0 IP) allowed three runs (2 ER) and struck out six batters during a 4-3 road victory against Detroit.

Phillies Preview

The Philadelphia Phillies have won six of their last ten games and trail NL East Division leading Atlanta by 9.5 games. During yesterday’s home victory, All-Star 1B Bryce Harper went 3-for-4 and scored a pair of runs to spark the Philadelphia offense. SP Zack Wheeler (4-0) fired six shutout frames to earn the win for the Phillies (26-26), who improved to 14-15 at home.

Rookie right-hander Andrew Painter (1-4 5.77 ERA) will make his ninth career major league start for the Phillies. Last time out, Painter (6 IP) limited Cincinnati to three hits and two runs during a 5-4 home victory.
