Twenty-five year old southpaw Parker Messick (8-5 2.68 ERA) is fresh off his first All-Star Game appearance for the Guardians. Through 117 plus innings, Messick has retired 116 batters by strikes and ranks 11th in the majors with a 1.05 WHIP.

Rays Preview

The Tampa Bay Rays have won a major league best 37 of their first 52 home games and are 2.5 games clear of New York for first place in the AL East Division. During Saturday’s home victory, Tampa Bay leadoff hitter Yandy Diaz went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. SP Nick Martinez (10-2) tossed six scoreless innings to earn the win and Bryan Baker notched his 27th save for the Rays (61-43).

Tampa Bay manager Kevin Cash will give the nod to thirty year old righty Dennis Rasmussen (8-5 3.28 ERA) in the series finale. Last time out, Rasmussen (5 IP) scattered seven hits and allowed two runs during a 12-2 road triumph against Toronto.
