Last night, Colorado C Hunter Goodman’s ninth inning RBI double was not enough during a 3-1 road loss against Pittsburgh.

Thirty-seven year old southpaw Jose Quintana (1-2 3.90 ERA) is still providing quality innings in his first season for the Rockies. In his last start, Quintana (5.2 IP) allowed five hits and two runs during a 6-2 home victory versus New York.

Pirates Preview

The Pittsburgh Pirates have won seven of their last ten games and are 4.5 games out of first place in the NL Central Division standings. During Tuesday’s home victory, leadoff hitter Oneil Cruz went 2-for-4 and scored three runs to spark the Pittsburgh offense. NL Cy Young Award winner Paul Skenes (6-2) fanned ten batters across eight shutout frames to earn the win for the Pirates (23-19), who improved to 12-9 at home.

Pittsburgh manager Don Kelly will give the nod to thirty year old righty Mitch Keller (4-1 2.87 ERA) in the middle game of this series. The Pirates have won Keller’s four starts and he has allowed eight runs over his previous 25 innings.
