Twenty-eight year old southpaw Tarik Skubal (13-6 2.21 ERA) will win his second consecutive AL Cy Young Award. Through 195 plus innings, Skubal has retired 241 batters by strikes and leads the majors with a 0.89 WHIP.

Red Sox Preview

The Boston Red Sox have won 47 of their 80 home games and need to win on Sunday to clinch the fifth seed in the American League playoffs. During yesterday’s home loss, Boston batters left six men on base and were retired by strikes 13 times. Rookie SP Connelly Early (1-2) gave up two runs in five innings and took the loss for the Red Sox, who fell to 88-73 overall.

Boston manager Alex Cora has yet to name a starting pitcher for the series finale. The Red Sox will prioritize having their rotation set for the playoffs and rank fifth in the majors with a 3.72 ERA.
