In the second game of Friday’s doubleheader, Cleveland walked it off in the bottom of the tenth inning on a Travis Bazzana single that scored Brayan Rocchio with the winning run. Bazzana added a two-run blast in the bottom of the eighth inning to tie the score. The Guardians (72-70) improved to 35-38 at home and trail Chicago by 2.5 games for first place in the AL Central Division.
Cleveland skipper Stephen Vogt will give the nod to twenty-five year old lefty Parker Messick (11-8 2.46 ERA) on Saturday. Through 161 innings of work, Messick has struck out 161 batters and ranks seventh in the majors with a 1.02 WHIP.
