The left-hander’s command and ability to make hitters swing and miss make him Detroit’s ace. Luis Castillo gets the start in Game 2. The right-hander went 14–8 during the regular season with a 3.46 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and 217 strikeouts. Castillo has been tough on left-handed hitters, which will be important against Detroit’s middle of the order. Seattle hit .244 this season with 238 home runs, but struck out more than most playoff teams. The Mariners need more consistent contact to avoid falling behind in the series.
