The Tuesday MLB schedule will get started with the first game of a doubleheader between the Atlanta Braves and the Washington Nationals from the nation’s capital. Last night, 1B Matt Olson went 4-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs to lead Atlanta to an 11-3 road victory against Washington.

Atlanta manager Brian Snitker has not named a starting pitcher for the opening game of the doubleheader. The Braves currently rank 22nd in the majors with a 4.46 ERA and have logged 62 quality starts.

Nationals Preview

The Washington Nationals have identical home/road splits and have been eliminated from postseason contention. During Monday’s home loss, rookie Washington OF Daylen Lile clobbered his sixth long ball of the year. SP Mitchell Parker (8-16) was tagged for six runs in five innings and took the loss for the Nationals (62-88), who fell to 31-44 at home.

Twenty-eight year old righty Jake Irvin (8-12 5.70 ERA) appears to be wearing out down the stretch. The Nationals have dropped Irvin’s previous five starts and he has surrendered 24 runs across his last 22 plus frames.
