In Sunday afternoon MLB action, the Houston Astros will battle the Athletics from Suter Health Park. Be ready for the baseball season with all of our MLB predictions. Last night, Jeremy Pena homered twice and drove in four runs to power Houston to a 13-2 road triumph against the Athletics. Yordan Alvarez and Isaac Paredes also went deep for the Astros.

Houston manager Joe Espada has not announced a starting pitcher for this game, but will likely use an all hands on deck approach. The Astros rank 24th in the majors with a 4.51 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP. The bullpen is slightly better with a 4.18 ERA and closer Josh Hader (1.01 ERA) has notched 26 saves.

Athletics Preview

The Athletics have played the last two seasons in Sacramento and will move into their new Las Vegas stadium for the 2028 season. During Saturday’s home loss, 3B Zack Gelof went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. SP Jack Perkins (3-13) was roughed up for six runs in five innings and took the loss for the Athletics (64-97), who fell to 32-48 at home.

Twenty-eight year old left-hander Brady Basso (5.36 ERA) will make his eighth start of the year for the Athletics. Basso, who has also made 18 relief appearances, owns an alarming 1.60 WHIP. In his last five outings, Basso (14 IP) has been tagged for 23 hits and 13 runs. The Athletics rank last in the majors with a 5.28 bullpen ERA.
