Thirty-one year old southpaw Framber Valdez (12-11 3.75 ERA) will head to the hill for the Astros in this contest. Houston has dropped Valdez’s previous four starts and he has surrendered 20 runs across his last 20 plus frames.

Athletics Preview

The Athletics have won eight of their last 11 games and could be a force in the division hierarchy in the years to come. During Wednesday’s home victory, C Shea Langeliers went 4-for-4 with a home run and scored twice to power the offense. SP Luis Severino (8-11) fanned five batters across six plus shutout frames to earn the win for the Athletics (75-83), who improved to 35-42 at home.

Athletics manager Mark Kotsay will turn to twenty-six year old lefty J.T. Ginn (4-6 4.57 ERA) on Thursday. Last time out, Ginn (6 IP) allowed five hits and two runs during a 5-3 road victory against Boston.
