On Thursday, Kansas City OF Lane Thomas and SS Bobby Witt Jr. each went deep during a 7-3 road loss against the New York Mets.

Twenty-four year old righty Luinder Avila (4-3 5.05 ERA) will make his ninth start of the year for the Royals. The previous four times Avila has been on the mound Kansas City has been victorious and he has allowed seven runs across his last 19 plus frames.

Orioles Preview

The Baltimore Orioles have split their first 50 home games and are trying to climb out of the AL East Division cellar. On Thursday, pinch-hitter Jeremiah Jackson delivered a two-run double in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift Baltimore to a 3-2 home victory versus the Chicago Cubs. SP Trevor Rogers allowed one run in six innings and did not factor in the decision for the Orioles (43-51).

Baltimore manager Craig Albernaz will turn to twenty-seven year old righty Brandon Young (7-2 3.38 ERA) in the series opener. In his last start, Young (5 IP) gave up eight hits and four runs during an 8-5 road victory against Cincinnati.
