On Saturday, Kansas City batters went 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base during a 2-1 road loss.

Twenty-four year old righty Luinder Avila (5.06 ERA) will make his seventh start of the year for the Royals. Avila, who has also made nine relief appearances, has walked an alarming 27 batters across 42 plus frames.

White Sox Preview

The Chicago White Sox have won 28 of their first 41 home games and hold a 1.5 game lead over Cleveland for first place. During yesterday’s home victory, Chicago walked it off in the bottom of the ninth inning on a Jacob Gonzalez single that scored Colson Montgomery with the winning run. RP Grant Taylor (3-1) fired two shutout frames and fanned four batters to earn the win for the White Sox, who moved to 43-38 overall.

Second-year Chicago skipper Will Venable will give the nod to thirty-one year old lefty Anthony Kay (6-2 4.24 ERA) on Sunday. Last time out, Kay tossed six scoreless innings and retired eight batters by strikes during a 6-5 home victory versus Cleveland.
