The Cleveland Guardians have won three straight games and are still in contention for the final AL Wild Card spot. On Sunday, DH Jose Ramirez had an RBI triple and SS Gabriel Arias added a run-scoring single to lead Cleveland to a 2-1 road victory against Tampa Bay. Rookie SP Parker Messick (2-0) scattered eight hits across six frames to earn the win for the Guardians (72-70).

The Guardians will counter with twenty-six year old righty Slade Cecconi (5-6 4.78 ERA) in the series opener. In his last start, Cecconi (5.1 IP) was tagged for 11 hits and seven runs during an 11-7 road loss against Boston.
