Kansas City enters this matchup at 24-38 on the season, while Minnesota comes in at 29-34, sitting ahead of the Royals in the division standings. The Royals have endured a disappointing season after entering the year with playoff expectations. Kansas City is averaging just 3.9 runs and 7.8 hits per game, ranking near the bottom of MLB offensively. The Royals are expected to send Michael Wacha to the mound on Friday. Wacha enters the matchup with a 4-3 record, 3.23 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and 55 strikeouts.
