Mets Preview

The New York Mets are five games below .500 at home and have been the most disappointing team in baseball. During Wednesday’s home victory, 2B Brett Baty’s two-run single highlighted New York’s five-run eighth inning eruption. Leadoff hitter A.J. Ewing went 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI for the Mets (39-54), who are 15 games out of first place. 

Thirty-four year old southpaw Sean Manaea (5.16 ERA) will make his sixth start of the season for the Mets. Manaea, who has also made 14 relief appearances, has retired 68 batters by strikes and owns a 1.37 WHIP in 68 innings.

New York OF Luis Robert Jr. (back) is currently on a rehab assignment and hopes to return to the lineup after the All-Star Break.
