Ronny Simon and Jake Mangum added two-run shots for the Pirates (78-77), who improved to 41-36 at home.
Thirty-one year old righty Lake Bachar (3.54 ERA) will make his 11th start of the year for the Pirates. Bachar, who has also made 39 relief appearances, has struck out 84 batters across 81 plus frames. In his last four starts, Bachar has not recorded more than seven outs.
