The Kansas City Royals are looking to snap a three-game losing streak and are 2.5 games back in the race for the final AL Wild Card spot. During Wednesday’s home loss, Kansas City batters went 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position and managed just four hits total. SP Ryan Bergert fanned six batters across five frames and did not factor in the decision for the Royals (70-69), who fell to 37-34 at home.

Thirty-five year old righty Seth Lugo (8-7 4.15 ERA) has been on a decline for the Royals in the last month. Over his last five starts, Lugo (22 IP) has surrendered eight long balls and an alarming 26 earned runs.
