Pirates Preview

The Pittsburgh Pirates have won eight of their last 11 games and are trying to climb out of the NL Central Division cellar. Last night, NL Cy Young Award front runner Paul Skenes (10-9) fanned eight batters in six shutout innings to lead Pittsburgh to a 5-3 home victory versus Los Angeles. OF Bryan Reynolds went 2-for-3 and scored a pair of runs for the Pirates (64-77), who improved to 42-30 at home.

Pittsburgh interim manager Don Kelly has not announced a starting pitcher for the series opener. The Pirates currently rank tenth in the majors with a 3.88 ERA and have lagged 50 quality starts.

Brewers vs Pirates Prediction

Milwaukee 1B Rhys Hoskins (thumb) is on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Nashville and should return to the lineup this weekend. Through 141 games, Milwaukee ranks 10th in OPS and 2nd in runs scored.
