Scenic PNC Park will play host to the second game of a Saturday doubleheader between the Milwaukee Brewers and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Twenty-seven year old lefty Shane Drohan (2.97 ERA) will head to the hill for the Brewers in this contest. Milwaukee has won Drohan’s previous three starts and he has allowed five runs (3 ER) over his last 16 innings of work. 

Pirates Preview

The Pittsburgh Pirates have split their previous ten games and are 12.5 games out of first place in the division standings. On Thursday, Pittsburgh leadoff hitter Jake Mangum went 4-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs during a 10-5 home loss against Atlanta. Bryan Reynolds and Esmerlyn Valdez also went deep for the Pirates (47-47), who fell to 24-24 at home. 

Pittsburgh skipper Don Kelly will give the nod to twenty-three year old righty Bubba Chandler (3-8 4.82 ERA) on Saturday. Control has been a major problem for Chandler, who has issued 52 free passes and owns a subpar 1.44 WHIP across 89 plus frames. 

Brewers vs Pirates Pick

Pittsburgh OF Oneil Cruz (hand) has resumed swinging a bat and is expected to rejoin the lineup later this month. Through 93 games, Milwaukee ranks 9th in OPS and 4th in runs scored.
