Padres Preview

The San Diego Padres are riding a four-game winning streak and have clinched a postseason berth. During Tuesday’s home victory, 1B Ryan O’Hearn got the scoring started for San Diego in the opening frame with a grand slam. SP Randy Vasquez (6-7) allowed one hit across seven shutout frames to earn the win for the Padres (87-71), who won their 49th home game.

San Diego skipper Mike Shildt will give the nod to hard-throwing righty Dylan Cease (8-12 4.64 ERA) on Wednesday. Through 163 innings of work, Cease ranks fifth in the majors with 207 strikeouts and owns a 1.32 WHIP.
