At the plate, the Mets are built on power. Juan Soto has 43 home runs and a .399 on-base percentage. Pete Alonso adds 37 homers and 123 RBI, while Francisco Lindor leads the team with 168 hits. As a group, the Mets have hit 220 home runs with a .327 team on-base percentage. The weakness has been on the road, where they are 32–45 and often fall behind early.
Miami Marlins Preview
The Marlins turn to Sandy Alcantara. He has struggled this year with a 5.48 ERA and 55 walks in 167 innings. He still can make hitters swing and miss, with 139 strikeouts, but giving up 21 home runs has been costly. Against a lineup like the Mets, keeping runners off base is the difference between a quality start and another short outing.

Offensively, Miami does not have the same power as the Mets. The Marlins have hit 153 home runs as a team. Xavier Edwards leads the club with a .279 average and a .336 on-base percentage. Kyle Stowers has provided the power with 25 homers, and Otto Lopez leads with 77 RBI. Miami has played better recently, winning four of its last six before Wednesday’s loss, but at 36–42 at home, consistency has been missing.
