The Toronto Blue Jays host the New York Yankees at Rogers Centre on Sunday at 4:08 p.m. ET, airing on FS1, in Game 2 of the American League Division Series. Toronto leads the best-of-five 1–0 after a dominant 10–1 win in Saturday’s opener. On Sunday, left-hander Max Fried starts for New York against rookie right-hander Trey Yesavage for the Blue Jays. Hit a grand slam and win with our free MLB picks.

New York Yankees Preview

New York’s bats were completely silenced in Game 1, managing just six hits and leaving seven runners on base. Aaron Judge went 2-for-4 and remains the lineup’s most reliable threat this postseason, hitting .400 with a .688 slugging mark over limited plate appearances. Anthony Volpe doubled and scored the lone Yankees run, while Cody Bellinger drove him in with a bases-loaded walk — the only RBI of the day. Through four postseason games, the Yankees are batting .231 as a team.

Max Fried takes the ball for Game 2 after allowing no runs and four hits over 6.1 innings in his first postseason outing. The lefty struck out six and walked three, working well with runners on base using sharp breaking stuff. New York’s bullpen logged heavy innings in the opener, using six relievers, which puts extra pressure on Fried to go deep into the game if the Yankees want to avoid returning home down 0–2.

Toronto Blue Jays Preview

Toronto ended an eight-year playoff drought decisively, blasting three home runs and recording 14 hits in Game 1. Alejandro Kirk powered the lineup with two solo homers, while Vladimir Guerrero Jr. added another home run and drove in two. Over the past two games, the Blue Jays have scored 23 runs, with Bo Bichette and George Springer each adding multi-hit performances. Toronto’s lineup has a postseason average of .333 with a .619 slugging percentage after one game, showing a patient approach that punished New York pitching late.

Trey Yesavage gets his first postseason start after a late-season call-up. The right-hander features a mid-90s fastball and power slider, and Toronto’s staff will look for Yesavage to hand off to a rested bullpen. The Blue Jays’ staff combined for 13 strikeouts and just one earned run in the series opener, giving them the early advantage and momentum at home.

New York Yankees vs Toronto Blue Jays Prediction

Toronto’s offense looks too strong right now, and the bullpen is rested after Saturday’s easy win. New York’s Fried should keep the Yankees in it early, but New York’s lineup hasn’t found any way to put runners on base. If Yesavage gives the Blue Jays solid innings, Toronto is in good shape to grab a 2–0 series lead. Final Score Prediction: Toronto Blue Jays win 5-3.
