In Sunday afternoon MLB action, the New York Yankees and the Washington Nationals will wrap up their weekend series from the nation’s capital. On Saturday, Trent Grisham delivered a two-run blast in the eighth inning to give New York a 4-2 road victory. Ryan McMahon and Paul Goldschmidt added solo shots as part of a four-run frame for the Yankees.

Twenty-seven year old righty Will Warren (7-4 4.15 ERA) will head to the hill for the Yankees in this contest. New York has dropped Warren’s previous four starts and he has surrendered 19 runs (15 ER) over his last 20 plus innings.

Nationals Preview

The Washington Nationals have split their previous ten games and are 7.5 games off the pace in the NL East Division race. During yesterday’s home loss, Washington batters went 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. All-Star OF James Wood went 3-for-5 with a home run in a losing effort for the Nationals (48-48), who fell to a disappointing 20-30 at home.

Washington skipper Blake Butera will turn to twenty-seven year old righty Cade Cavalli (5-4 3.88 ERA) on Sunday. In ten home starts this season, Cavalli (49.1 IP) has limited the opposition to five long balls and retired 58 batters by strikes.
