The Thursday MLB schedule will get underway with a matinee between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Baltimore Orioles from Camden Yards. Last night, Pittsburgh batters went 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position and managed just two hits during a 2-1 road loss against Baltimore.

Twenty-seven year old righty Johan Oviedo (2-0 2.70 ERA) will make his sixth start of the year for the Pirates. Through 20 innings of work, Oviedo has retired 24 batters by strikes and owns a solid 1.10 WHIP.

Orioles Preview

The Baltimore Orioles have won eight of their last 11 games and will need to upgrade their pitching in the offseason. On Wednesday, Baltimore walked it off in the tenth inning on a Dylan Beavers single that scored pinch runner Jorge Mateo with the winning run. 2B Jackson Holliday tied the game in the eighth inning with an RBI single for the Orioles (68-77), who improved to 35-38 at home.

The Orioles will counter with twenty-five year old southpaw Cade Povich (3-7 5.16 ERA) in the series finale. Last time out, Povich (5 IP) gave up seven hits and four runs during a 7-5 road victory against San Diego.
