Last night, 1B Spencer Horwitz went 3-for-5 and drove in three runs to lead Cincinnati to a 4-3 road victory against Cincinnati.

Rookie right-hander Braxton Ashcraft (4-3 2.62 ERA) will make his eighth career major league start for the Pirates. Through 65 plus innings, Ashcraft has limited the opposition to three long balls and has retired 66 batters by strikes.

Reds Preview

The Cincinnati Reds are eight games above .500 at home and trail New York by one full game for the final NL Wild Card spot. During Wednesday night’s home loss, Cincinnati batters went 1–for-10 with runners in scoring position and left 13 men on base. C Tyler Stephenson fell a triple short of the cycle in a losing effort for the Reds (80-78).

Cincinnati manager Terry Francona will give the nod to talented lefty Nick Lodolo (8-8 3.44 ERA) in the series finale. Last time out, Lodolo (4.2 IP) gave up four runs and fanned seven batters during a 7-4 home victory versus Chicago.
