On Sunday, DH Gavin Lux’s third-inning RBI double was all the offense Cincinnati would need during a 1-0 home victory versus Chicago. SP Andrew Abbott was pulled after four plus innings and did not factor in the decision for the Reds (80-76), who improved to 44-34 at home.
Cincinnati skipper Terry Francona will give the nod to right-hander Brady Singer (14-10 3.86 ERA) in the series opener. In his last start, Singer (5.2 IP) allowed two runs (1 ER) and struck out six batters during a 6-2 road victory against St. Louis.
