The Sunday MLB schedule will get underway with a matinee between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Washington Nationals from the nation’s capital. On Saturday, Jared Triolo homered and Andrew McCutchen drove in a pair of runs to lead Pittsburgh to a 5-1 road victory against Washington.

Rookie right-hander Mike Burrows (2-4 3.99 ERA) will make his 18th career major league start for the Pirates. Through 85 plus innings, Burrows has fanned 88 batters and owns a respectable 1.24 WHIP.

Nationals Preview

The Washington Nationals have won six of their last ten games and own the second worst record in the National League. During yesterday’s home loss, Washington batters managed just three hits and were retired by strikes on ten occasions. Rookie SP Andrew Alvarez fired six shutout frames and did not factor in the decision for the Nationals (61-87), who fell to 30-43 at home.

The Nationals will counter with twenty-seven year old righty Cade Cavalli (3-1 4.67 ERA) in the series finale. Last time out, Cavalli (5 IP) allowed six hits and two runs during a 15-7 road victory against Miami.
