The San Diego Padres will look to stave off elimination on Wednesday afternoon, when they battle the Chicago Cubs from Wrigley Field. Be ready for the baseball season with all of our MLB predictions. In Game One, San Diego SS Xander Bogaerts went 2-for-4 and drove in a run during a 3-1 road loss.

Twenty-nine year old righty Dylan Cease (8-12 4.55 ERA) will take the mound for the Padres in this matchup. Through 168 innings of work, Cease ranks sixth in the majors with 215 strikeouts and owns a respectable 1.33 WHIP.

Cubs Preview

The Chicago Cubs won 50 of 81 home games during the regular season and rank ninth in the majors with a 3.79 ERA. During yesterday’s home victory, Chicago erased an early deficit on the strength of back-to-back solo shots from Seiya Suzuki and Carson Kelly. Nico Hoerner went 2-for-3 and delivered a sacrifice fly to provide an insurance run for the Cubs.

Chicago manager Craig Counsell will turn to veteran righty Andrew Kittredge (3.40 ERA) to serve as the opener in Game Two. The Cubs will likely follow with struggling southpaw Shota Imanaga (9-8 3.73 ERA), who was roughed up for eight runs in his last start.
