Thirty-four year old southpaw Robbie Ray (3-6 4.45 ERA) will make his 13th start of the year for the Giants. Control has been a problem for Ray, who has issued 31 walks and surrendered 13 long balls across 62 plus frames.

Cubs Preview

The Chicago Cubs have won 19 of their first 32 home games and are 5.5 games off the pace in the NL Central Division race. Last night, Pete Crow Armstrong’s walk-off RBI single capped a four-run ninth inning as Chicago rallied for a 7-6 home victory versus the Athletics. Ian Happ went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs for the Cubs, who improved to 33-30 overall.

Chicago manager Craig Counsell will turn to twenty-six year old righty Ben Brown (2-2 1.92 ERA) in the series opener. Last time out, Brown (7 IP) allowed one run and retired six batters by strikes during a 6-1 road victory against St Louis.
