On Friday, 3B Matt Chapman homered twice and drove in eight runs to power San Francisco to an 18-3 road triumph against Chicago. Casey Schmidt and Willy Adames combined for four long balls and seven RBIs.

Twenty-seven year old righty Landen Roupp (5-6 4.22 ERA) will take the mound for the Giants in this matchup. In his last start, Roupp (4 IP) was tagged for eight hits and eight runs during an ugly 16-2 road loss against Milwaukee.

Cubs Preview

The Chicago Cubs have dropped six of their previous ten games and are six games off the pace in the NL Central Division race. During yesterday’s home loss, Chicago OF Seiya Suzuki reached base four times and scored a pair of runs. SP Edwin Cabrera (3-3) was roughed up for eight runs in three plus innings and took the loss for the Cubs (33-31), who fell to 19-14 at home.

Chicago manager Craig Counsell will turn to twenty-six year old righty Ben Brown (2-2 1.92 ERA) on Saturday. Last time out, Brown (7 IP) allowed one run and retired six batters by strikes during a 6-1 road victory against St Louis.
