Kansas City enters at 21-31 and has not played much better overall, though the Royals did build momentum after their convincing win Saturday. Seth Lugo takes the mound with a 1-4 record despite a respectable 3.68 ERA. His numbers suggest he has pitched better than his win total indicates, but Kansas City’s inconsistent run support has hurt him throughout the year.

The pitching matchup looks fairly even on paper, though Woo has been much better at limiting baserunners and working efficiently into deeper innings. Seattle should have opportunities offensively against Lugo’s higher WHIP, especially if Julio Rodriguez and Cal Raleigh can capitalize with runners in scoring position early.
