Pirates Preview

The Pittsburgh Pirates are three games above .500 at home and are two games behind first place Cincinnati. On Sunday, Pittsburgh batters managed just two hits and left six men on base during a 5-0 road loss against Milwaukee. SP Carmen Mlodzinski (1-2) gave up four runs in three plus innings and took the loss for the Pirates.

Twenty-six year old righty Braxton Aschcraft (1-1 2.43 ERA) will come off the bereavement list to start for the Pirates. Last time out, Ashcraft (7 IP) gave up four hits and two runs during an 8-4 road victory against Texas.
