Twenty-six year old righty Shane Baz (9-11 4.94 ERA) will make his 29th start of the year for the Rays. Last time out, Baz (5 IP) gave up two runs and struck out eight batters during a 3-2 home loss versus Cleveland.

Cubs Preview

The Chicago Cubs have won 44 of their 72 home games and are sitting comfortably atop the NL Wild Card standings. On Wednesday, 2B Nico Hoerner went 3-for-5 with a run scored and C Carson Kelly added a solo shot to lead Chicago to a 3-2 road victory against Atlanta. The Cubs (83-63) won despite going 1-for-10 with runners in scoring position and leaving ten men on base.

Thirty-four year old southpaw Matthew Boyd (12-8 2.92 ERA) was named a first-time All-Star. The Cubs have dropped Boyd’s previous three starts and he has surrendered 11 runs across his last 18 plus frames.

Chicago OF Kyle Tucker has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a left calf strain and will not play in this series. Through 146 games, Tampa Bay ranks 14th in OPS and 14th in runs scored.
