Rookie Tong’s 12 strikeouts in 11.0 innings show he can make hitters miss, but 4 walks and 3 homers in that span have hurt as well. Texas doesn’t need many runs to support deGrom, therefore, NY needs a strong performance from its rookie. New York’s staff ERA (4.00) and WHIP (1.33) are solid, but must perform even better with deGrom on the mound for the Rangers.
