Rangers vs Mets Game Information
On Saturday, the Texas Rangers play the second game of a three-game series on the road versus the New York Mets at Citi Field with the first pitch at 4:10 PM ET. Texas is 77–70 but just 30–42 away, while New York is 76–71 and a solid 45–27 at home. The matchup features lefty Patrick Corbin (7–9, 4.36 ERA, 1.32 WHIP) for Texas, against rookie right-hander Brandon Sproat (0–1, 4.50 ERA across 6.0 MLB innings) for New York. The Rangers have won four straight, and the Mets are on a six-game losing skid. Be ready to close out the baseball season on a winning note with our free MLB Picks.
Texas Rangers Preview
Texas is relying more on its pitching than its hitting. The staff’s 3.43 ERA and 1.17 WHIP have carried the Rangers as the lineup has struggled with injuries and knocking in runs. Corbin’s year has improved as the season has gone on; the lefthander is allowing fewer home runs than earlier in the season (21 HR in 142.1 innings pitched) and has worked deep enough in games to give the bullpen more rest.
At the plate, injuries are a concern. Corey Seager and Adolis García are both out, removing two of the Rangers’ best threats from the middle of the order. Texas is hitting .236 with 163 homers. Wyatt Langford leads in on-base percentage at .341. Texas needs more production from Marcus Semien and Josh Jung, especially while Seager and Garcia recover from injuries.
New York Mets Preview
New York has relied on a strong middle of the order all season. Juan Soto (39 HRs, .400 on-base percentage) and Pete Alonso (33 HRs, 113 RBI) give the Mets an excellent opportunity against Texas left-hander Corbin. Francisco Lindor’s 154 hits help fill the bases ahead of sluggers Soto and Alonso. The Mets have hit 199 home runs in 147 games, and that puts fear into any pitching staff..

Brandon Sproat is off to a great start to his MLB career. The right-hander had seven strikeouts in his first six MLB innings—but command (four walks) is a concern. The Mets' home park, Citi Field, is a pitchers’ park, and that will help rookie Sproat. If Sproat reaches the middle innings without giving up more than two runs, New York’s bullpen matches up well against the Texas short-handed lineup.
Prediction Texas Rangers vs New York Mets
New York will win in a close game. The home record, strong middle of the order, and Texas’ missing bats due to injuries give the Mets an advantage despite the Rangers having a better overall ERA. Corbin will keep it close, but New York will win late. Final Score Prediction: New York Mets win 4-3.
